The Vibrolux name dates back to 1956, when Fender introduced a small tweed-covered combo as a mid-tier option between the Deluxe and the Pro. By the early 1960s the amp had grown to a 2x10" configuration and moved through Fender's brown and blonde "brownface" cosmetic era. In 1964, as Fender rolled out its now-iconic blackface control panels and circuits across the amp line, the model was reborn as the Vibrolux Reverb: a two-channel, roughly 35-watt combo built around the AB763 circuit shared with amps like the Deluxe Reverb and Twin Reverb. Its Vibrato channel added Fender's built-in spring reverb and tube-driven tremolo, features that quickly became inseparable from the classic Fender clean tone. The 2x10" speaker configuration gives it more low-end push and volume headroom than the single-speaker Deluxe Reverb while staying more compact than the 4x10" Super Reverb, making original blackface Vibrolux Reverbs — like this 1964 example — highly sought after on the vintage market for their balance of portability and tone.
Controls
Normal channel: Volume, Treble, Bass. Vibrato channel: Volume, Treble, Bass, Reverb, Speed (tremolo rate), Intensity (tremolo depth). Bright switch on each channel, built-in spring reverb and tube-driven tremolo.
